Just a couple of remarks about this; obviously this is a whole field of study.

If you test folks without symptoms highly suggestive of infection, most positives will be false positives, leading to unneeded therapy and quarantine. That's just the nature of the test, as no test is perfect. That's why the proposed drive-through testing centers where everybody and their dog gets tested may be counter productive. Doctors will find it VERY difficult to deny tests if a patient wants one even though not indicated.

Testing everyone in a certain group where the infection is known to exist is valuable so that researchers know the penetrance of the virus, i.e., what % exposed will be infected, what % will develop serious disease, etc.

Since the symptoms in healthy folks are so similar to the common cold, the true number of folks infected may be much higher, which means the mortality rate may be much lower than it appears, e.g., 1000 are infected but only 100 get really sick and get tested and 1 dies, so death rate looks like 1% but in reality is 0.1%.

Meant this to be helpful not pedagogical, so forgive me if it comes across as such.

Yeah one of the research people from CDC said last night that it is probably closer to .07% world wide.

Let's say for the sake of argument that the Corona-19 stats are 3 or even 5 times higher than what is being reported world wide. It still would pale in comparison 2018-19 Flu epidemic statistics in the U.S. alone!

We're at the very start of this thing. Way to early to be comparing it long term to anything really. Check back at the end of the year and then we'll have an apples-apples.

Went to Walmart last night and couldn't believe it, not one gallon of milk left, not one can or pack of soup, all the canned vegetables were also gone. All the rice and beans and more, of course no toilet paper or water, just crazy.

People acting like its the apocalypse. Hofefully it doesn't get worse.

If you want to place an online grocery order for Walmart and have it delivered --- my walmarts next delivery date is 18 days from now.

Oh, it just got even better. So, my Sergeant just called me and said to avoid taking people to jail at ALL COSTS!!! Our jail has suspended all visitation and, for now, will not accept ANY prisoners without being medically cleared FIRST. When we go on calls we ARE NOT to go inside anybody's house....rather call them outside and deal with them (Ha...yeah that will work). Geez...this just keeps getting better and better.
Oh my word
Zip tie them to a fence and tell them y'all in jail someone will be by to fetch you directly

Friday morning we were instructed to handle as many calls as we could with our department issued cell-phone until this mess blows over. So, I won't be making near as many runs for the next several weeks. ;)
