Possible New State Record Mulie

And he also had special permission to be hunting when season was closed for everyone else...

"The general mule deer season in the Trans-Pecos doesn't get underway until Nov. 29, but Simons' lease is under a state-approved Managed Lands Deer program that allows for an earlier opener. He shot the deer on the afternoon of Nov. 4"

Not hating, but stuff like this is what is going to ruin hunting for everyone.

Big money raising record deer should be in their own separate record books.
Nothing about this buck is in keeping with the fair chase doctrine. Hopefully boone and Crockett does the right thing and doesnt validate

IT'S AMAZING that we have members that can view a mule deer rack and instantly discern it had escaped from a nearby "breeder farm" and there's nothing natural or free ranging involved.

I've got to learn to be more critical about about the animals that hunters post on this site. If it's too big, there must be something nefarious about it.

What if they payed big $$$ to hunt it? What if the animal had eaten any agricultural plant that enhanced his rack? Or the hunter had climbed a hill to get a better visual?

What if the landowner or state biologist used game cameras or helicopters to estimate population, buck/doe ratio and fawn survival?

COME ON MAN! We all look at pictures of animals taken by fellow members and have our own thoughts on them. Some have to react negatively, I prefer to say "Wow! Great Buck! Congrats! or keep my mouth shut.

What are your specific reasons that B&C should not validate this deer?
"FAIR CHASE, as defined by the Boone and Crockett Club, is the ethical, sportsmanlike, and lawful pursuit and taking of any free-ranging wild, big game animal in a manner that does not give the hunter an improper or unfair advantage over the game animals."

I read the rule, I just fail to see what the hunter did that was unethical.

Was it the ladder, game survey, supplemental protein or $$$? Just wanting to know.

Protein pellets
Well water
If you do this in a desert the animals are no longer free range, they arent leaving that ranch.
Then you add the special season
Then you add a helicopter to find the buck, not a game survey.
It's an amazing buck, but it's no different than putting a bass in a pond and feeding until you have a new world record, igfa wouldnt verify and boone and crockett shouldn't either.

Read the article...how in the hell can you spin it that it was free range and fair chase?!? You can't, so don't even try.

It's absolutely no different than breeder whitetails in the Midwest states, they don't qualify for any record books.

This buck is 10x worse than the Spider Bull and I'm not sure if they ended up allowing it into the record books, I know there was debate about it since the guides basically surrounded it and then flew the hunter in to shoot it. But at least it was actually on public ground, "fair chase" and wasn't hand fed nor named by it's "owner".
