300 WSM

hello guy s
just got me an Steyer rifle in 300 WSM . And this caliber is new to me .
I thined About 66 gr. H414 and a 168 gr . Barnes TSX.
Anybody have suggestions for? will this load work ? or any other ideas
i would Need accurate load for hunt

No experience here with H414 but my regular load uses RL-17 with the 168 TTSX with great results. I am playing around with some 166gr Hammer Hunters over superformance now and that combo is starting to look good also. Hopefully going to get out this week and play with it some more before the yearly trip out west in October.

well i just did a testload with norma brass , federal 215 m primer and hodgon superperformance . with 150 gr barnes on top . works well as far i can see .
first test s working well .

I have used RL-17, N550, and RL-19 with Barnes 168 TTSX. They all worked well.

180 accubond with imr 4831 w/LR primers was the sweet spot my buddies 300 wsm. Really think heavier is beyond what the wsm was designed for.

Thats the testload with 150gr Barnes tsx.forgot delete first shot so first shot wasn't from me! Distance 200m

Just developed these loads last week. The 180 Elite averaged 2970 fps out of a Bartlein 26 inch barrel. Going to validate and get some more data this week.

My 300WSM has no freebore so I have to load a little under book loads.I have been using Win.760 which is the same powder as H414,just different lots repackaged.I'm loading 64.5grs with 165gr Ballistic Tips for a velocity of 3100fps.My rifle maxed out with 65.0grs at 3150fps.I settled with the 64.5gr load and it works really well.

Went out yesterday with the purpose of validating the load. Same results, but gained 5 fps on the average. Decided to leave it at this for now since my elk hunt is in about three weeks.

RL16 works really well too. It's grain for grain compared to H4350 and it works well all the way up through 210 grain bullets. My rifle stacks 200 grain Accubonds on top of each other at 2900 fps. Not scorching, but if you need a consistent, temp stable 200 grain load that will put meat on the table RL16 will get you there.

They shine with 200+ gr bullets, personally I don't drop below a 215 Berger with the 300 WSM.

Why do you think the 200+ bullets work better in 300wsm? Most people think the opposite due to case lose.
