37XC build

This all escalated very quickly. You went from a 243 to a mid sized 338 up to the 33 and 37xc in a year! LOL

I like the idea of having both the 33 and 37 rounds, especially if you just rechamber the factory Lapua barrel.

You can only take the 243 so far. One mile was very tough and it took several attempts before I got impacts I could see. Never did take my 300wm past 1000 but the 338/375xltook me to 2206 pretty easy but at 2560 I'm having trouble spotting impacts. Granted conditions are damp and glass could be better but I'll never be satisfied till I'm shooting the moon. I'll just need to move up as I go......anyone have experience building artillery lol kidding kidding. It's not in the budget.....yet

Man I like that 33xc simply because David knows his ----. That being said I'm not sure I agree the cheytac case is not better. My .375 AM is still the benchmark in my book. Or any thing similar.

It depends on how you define better. The CT variants will always offer more velocity just because they have more capacity. Think of it like the 6 PPC-vs-6 BR; the BR offers more velocity potential but the PPC has proven to be superior from a pure accuracy standpoint (in short range BR). The same applies to the 300 Norma-vs-300 RUM where the RUM is a larger case with more velocity potential but the 300 Norma has proven to be as good or better from an accuracy standpoint but with a smaller capacity and all the advantages that go with it.

I personally think the CT case is better suited to the .408 and larger bores.

Edit to add: This coming from a guy with a pair of guns in 338/408 improved.:D

You keep hanging that Lawton out there like that I'm gonna bite at some point

At the rate you're going you'll be building a 416 Barrett next year! LOL

You went from the 243 to your 338/375 Ruger "long" and now up to the 375xc in about year. This escalated quickly!

build is coming along quickly too. Very excited to get it put together. 416 Barret would be fun Hmmmmm

What happened to the rim/base of that Lapua case ?
Looks like a shark bit it.
That 300 EH at 2935 with H1000 is pretty stout, might try N570 for kicks.
that is my adjustable dummy round. Was holding it with pliers while drilling out to thread 1/4"x20 in the primer pocket. Bit was biting with the drill and pliers bit in too hard and went through the strapping I used as protective layer. Little file work and it chambers nice and smooth. Can thread in a bolt and push bullets out and change bullets for the dummy or play with seating depth. The 37XC brass will be the same as it just came with my die set.
