378-338 Weatherby Mag vs 338 Lupua

The 338/378 is quite a bit faster than the 338 Lapua. the 338 Lapua is the ballistic equal of the 338 RUM in performance and case capacity if loaded to the same pressures.

The 338/378 has a much larger case capacity and with the right set up is much better with the heaviest 338 bullets. irregardless which cartridge you choose the mark 5 is in My opinion One of the best actions for big cartridges.

The price is a very good one and you should grab it.

Thank you, its laying on my coffee table now .Deal also included a 5 Boxes of brass, dies, and a 1 1/2 LB of Retumbo and Leupold VX3 Boon&Crockett scope

I have that exact rifle. I got mine when I wasn't looking for it but a deer hunter in NC had it and wanted to sell locally. It's an amazing gun and great cartridge. Elk tumble when I pull the trigger. Minimal recoil with the brake. I haven't shot it without the brake so I can't talk to that. Hearing protection is mandatory with the brake. If you don't want it several people on this site will jump on that GREAT DEAL!

I also recently picked up a 338-378 accumark not quite as smoking a deal as yours, ( $1800.00 with a Huskamaw 5-20. , dies , 40 once fired brass, and a nice soft case). I shoot a 340 WBY Mark 5 for elk and didn't really need this gun , but hey what is a guy supposed to do, anyway keep posted any heavy bullet loads that work that's kinda the direction I was hoping to work on.

I have the opportunity to purchase a Mark V Accumark in 378-338 Mag used. Claims 20 rounds down the tube. Comes with dies and some brass plus a Leupold VX 111 3.5-10x40mm for a $1,000 bucks . Any reason I shouldn't consider this a great deal ? For long range shooting is the 338 Lupua a better cartridge ?

If you decide not to get it, send them my way!!:)

Well rifle is mine now, can't believe the deal I got. 5 Boxes of WBY brass 2 boxes were once fired,2 boxes were new primed boxes and 1 box of loaded ammo( his handloads) 1 1/2 lbs of Retumbo powder and RCBS dies . I'm going to change out the scope right away. Is there any unique value for a Leupold Boon&Crockett 1" 3.5-10x40mm scope ?

If it were me I would pull the reloads and reload the brass myself. Just want to know for sure what's going down the barrel of my gun.

I have a custom built "John Knapp" 338 Lapua Ackley Improved. It is an amazing rifle. I am not a huge fan of Weatherby's but that does sound like a great price.

You would be crazy to pass on the deal...buy it! Even for resale but I'm Weatherby thru and thru!

Great deal! I sold one last year for $1200 minus a scope. I did give him 3 boxes of ammo with the rifle. I sold it to buy a .416 rigby. The rigby w/brake kicks more but not unbearable. Congrats and enjoy.
