Leupold VX6 HD

Can't wait to hear your report! I would try one if the dot is not too large.
This came in today and to me it's perfect. Small reticle and the fire dot had varying intensities of brightness. I'd buy again. Good luck

Hunted with the scope yesterday evening for the first time. Light gathering at dusk is exceptional.Watched a doe at about a hundred yards in a bean field that I couldn't see with the naked eye but through the scope would have still been an easy shot. Fire dot is on the money especially with varying intensities of brightness. One can get just a faint dot but still not obscure the target. I activated the internal leveling when I sighted it in and verified that it is correct with a plumb line. Overall I'm impressed. Better glass than my Nightforce NXS at dusk.

I have to agree on the low light ability . I have a VX6 / NON HD . last year I shot a deer right at quitting time . quitting time is 30 minutes after sunset . I climbed out of my stand and went over to the deer . when I went to take a pic of it I had to shine a flashlight on the deer , to be able to find it in the camera . I had no problem shooting it though . I'm very impressed with the scope. hunting these first and last few minutes of the day , will sure show the difference between optics .

Have VX6 3-18 x 50 ZL with firedot windplex reticle and VX6HD 3-18 x 50 ZL2 with firedot duplex reticle. Firedot appears identical in both reticles and is very small at low levels of illumination in darkness but very effective. As ambient light level increases illumination must be set higher but the dot does not get excessively large as the eye adjusts to the greater level of ambient light. Regarding the post above; I also have a VX6 2-12 x 42 ZL with the firedot windplex reticle mounted on my Tikka M55 .243 and have shot 1.5 to 2.5 inch groups with it at 400 yds without any problem regardless of there being no side-focus. Upside of no side-focus adjustment is that its quicker to get a shot away. That said, if I were intending to shoot beyond 400 yds regularly I would probably go for the 3-18 x 50 due to magnification and light gathering ability.
I have the 3-18 x50 non HD that I bought on closeout last year. Always wondered what I gave up vs the HD model in terms of glass/coatings. Seems you have both, what have you noticed in terms of diffrerence in clarity and low light performance?

Paid including tax over $950 bucks for my non HD VX-6 3x18x50mm. I look on Cabelas web page $1,799 for the HD model same power range . That's insanity to me .
Speaking as a retired old guy, the price of everything is through the roof insane. Hopefully competition and the next new optic to come along will bring the price down a tad.

Things not going for Tract are weight and limited elevation(50 MOA), but honestly if the scope is mounted/centered properly most people aren't going to dial past 25 MOA in a hunting situation, target shooting yes. If you want you can get a 10 MOA rail made(EGW) or bed 10 MOA into a rail. A 20 MOA rail would put you high in the edge of the lens at zero.
Good things are quality glass and price, i have not heard anything about tracking.
They should send some out for a demo to members to try and report. Even if I had to pay for it then return it for a refund if I didn't like it. I think that would be the best way to break into a market like this, in addition to being a sponsor.
