All right fellas i need some opinions and experience related advice. Went looking for 300 wby brass remington brand. Well forget it lost cause. Dont want to move up to norma or lapua because of cost. Kids lose brass like pennies. Was thinking about hornaday but have never used it before. How is vs. Remington and will my loads change with different brass. Thanks

I have some Remington in 300 Wby I'd sell you. I bought them with others, and exclusively use the Weatherby brand.
I don't know how many, offhand, and am about to leave on an elk hunt.

If you're interested send me a note, or better yet send one in 2 weeks too so I remember.

I recently purchased 100 pieces of Hornady .300WinMag brass because I wanted something besides Remington and I couldn't wish hard enough to make Lapua crank out .300WinMag again!. I have used Remington alot in the past with other calibers, so I'm not griping about it.
I did the normal prep like you would with most brands, Lapua being the only exception that I can speak of. Others speak highly of Norma but I have heard it's softer than Lapua and the primer pockets become loose quicker than Lapua, especially after pushing the pressure envelope during load development. Only repeating what I have read, like I said, others speak highly of it.

I FL resized, trimmed all to the same OAL, chamfered the in/outside necks, deburred the flash-holes. Right now I'm fireforming/doing load development with 208gn A-Max's and RL26. After all have been shot once, I'll probably bump the shoulder back, chamfer again and anneal it. I'll probably have to adjust the load a little after this due to tighter neck tension.

Of the 100 that I received, two were lapped over in the neck region, rendering then totally useless. I sent this same picture to Hornady, to both help with their Quality Control and hopefully get two good pieces in return. Musta' fell on deaf ears, never got a response.

The majority of my lot of 98 weighs between 233.X to 236.x, with a couple of stragglers on both sides. That's not as tight as I would like it but it is what it is. I weigh them and then load/shoot them in ranges.

Hey, it's new, and it's shiney! but can't say it's any better than Big Green. :( YMMV

Norma Brass is known to be soft. But ironically I have no problems with loose primer pockets. I'm on my 10th firing running a 208 Amax @3000 fps. I suppose I could push it harder but once you start pushing brass of any brand hard. Its life suffers.

True dat......

Hey if Norma will run for 10 reloadings at that level, it's OK with me. That's where my .300WinMag is at also....JohnnyK.
