gun)I was reading about the new nosler 28 in their rifle the model 48. The best group was two inches. I feel with these hot rodded cailbers, yes they are fast, if you cannot hit anything with close or tightness, what is it worth? Spending up to 2K or more on a hot rodded rifle.

Nosler M48 Patriots are guaranteed from the factory to shoot MOA or less...some models are guaranteed to shoot 3/4", while others are 1/2"...

If the rifle doesn't do that, send it back and let them fix it...

I have an M48 Custom, and with Nosler ammo it will group .7 MOA all day long (its guaranteed .75")...with reloads, it will do even better...still working up loads, but so far it has shown that it will do .5 MOA pretty easily.

Mine is a 280 Ackley, not a 28 Nosler...

Others and myself made 28-Noslers before Nosler announced it.

It's not the round that has the problem with accuracy. Probably and over worked "demo" rifle.

During testing of my 28-Nosler with all sorts of bullets, my 28-Nosler test mule rifle did sub moa with 5 bullets with 5 charges 1 grain apart. It was made from a rechambered 7mm Remington barrel.

Fred,

I can't remember if you are using custom barrels or not? Are you going with loading the cartridges longer to get more powder? I remember you had great results

My 28-Nosler barrel is a Remington "Sender Special" rechambered from 7mag. R700 action.

The next one will be a Proof Research on a mark v.

The article is in the Outdoor Life ,August 2015 . The ammo was 175 grain nosler,at the time there was 160 grain around to shoot. This maybe just the wrong twist in the barrel for this ammo. :)

That will be a great combination of barrel and action. Do you true up your mark v's? I love that action but I don't see many building off them. I'll be ordering a proof barrel for a .340wby I have to replace on an accumark.

I haven't trued in the past.

The first thin is to figure out how to measure "true".

Maybe for these I could send eto JE for the work.

Consider a 338/26-Nosler when you chamber the new barrel.
