I'm using this in my girlfriends X-bolt , it shoots well . we still don't have on game performance , but I think it will do ok . it's a slightly reduced recoil load .

120 nosler ballistic tip , 39.0 grains of H 4895 , cci 200 primer , rem brass , 2.800 COAL measured off the tip .

I agree completely. Those loads on the Hodgdon site are tested and they are proved. I made up some .243 rounds for a friend's daughter and she did just fine.

I also tested them in 30-30, .308 and 30-06 and all shot very accurately.

My two pet loads are =

120grain ballistic tip , 49.5 grains of H 414 and CCI Br2 primers.
Same bullet 45 grains of Varget and same primer.

Both loads are over 3000 ft/sec and very accurate (Under 1/10th of an inch at 100 yards)

recoil is very mild.

Work up to these loads in your rifle to be safe.

Another vote for the Hodgdon reduced loads. I load the 110 VMax in my .308 for my kids to shoot. They shouldn't have a problem in your 7-08 and you might be surprised by the accuracy.

I just loaded some 139 Horn SST with 37gr Varget. Great load, less than 1" groups at 100yrds!!!
