For me, the farther I can put a bullet in the bull, the more fun I am having. I am not familiar with the 7mm stw, but if it does what you want, do it.

If I had the bucks, I would most certainly go with the 338 Lapua Mag. What a round. Savage makes a couple of rifles in that caliber. I know they are not custom rifles, but they are very good rifles, especially for the money.

A friend of mine recently purchased one for $1600.00. I think it is BA10, nice LARGE shooter. Now he's is looking at Nightforce or Vortex to put on it.

He will be having fun.

Expensive fun none the less.... The 110 BA is the heavy weight festooned with rails and pistol grip. With a scope, not a pack gun at about 17 pounds with nothing in the magazine. I have the 11-111 LRH in 338, snot stock and much lighter and fun, well light as in relative. Mine is about 12 pounds scoped and 5 in the mag. Not a pack gun either unless you have a lackey or a good horse.

At least you can get brass, bullets and even factory stuff pretty easy.

My next rifle will surely be in the high performance caliber 8 x 68 S. Most likely build on a 700 system, M70 safety and Walther stainless 26' barrel. Mc Millan (Lazzeroni sporter) stock and with a reasonable scope mounted. Unfortunately we can't get Huskemaw over here…
