Guess I'm small potatoes....:)

My next acquisition will be a .223 bolt rifle, probably an other Savage. Not much good out west, but around these parts, an excellent varmit rifle.

I know I said it would be some really cool wildcat cartridge.. some ackley improved super cool varminter. well, fate has a way of disrupting plans. two guns fell into my lap.. 375 Holland and Holland (super cool pig/ bear gun) and then a 22-250 dropped into my lap... after experimenting with loads I found it to be a super cool, accurate, gun that explodes squirrels, bunnies, jack rabbits, and hammers coyotes like nothing I have ever shot. I have to let my super 223 WSSM's go.. they are way too much work to make them up to my standards. I may keep one.. the Winchester 70. and let the browning Stalker II A-bolt go.
I reckon the song is correct.. "You don't always get what you want, But God gives you what you need."
good hunting, good shooting, good eating of what you personally take from nature. gun)

I build one more 7mmRemMag rifles every year for myself, but I also still experiment with 243, 260, and 257RAI.

7mmRemMag is the king of long range hunting rifles that can be carried.

voted 300RUM. I'm having a APS Raptor Stalker built in 300AX, should have it before next years deer season. After that maybe one of Kirby's monsters based on the cheytac case. b

I have to revise my 'next rifle will be in ? cartridge'.....

Any cartridge that has components readily available, including powder and a variety of different projectiles for different applications.

I don't want an off the wall caliber that you can't find brass for or you can only get a couple styles/manufacturers of bullets and the powder is non-existent unless you order a year in advance.

Phooey on that crap.

I'd say a 223 but you can't hunt anything sizeable with a pea shooter. I've taken whitetail with a 223 but shot placement is everything.

Something in the common 3 series I suspect.
