which stock

I'm looking to put a stock on a savage rifle. The factory stock doesn't have the Monte Carlo style cheekpiece and I want one. Any brand suggestions? Im leaning toward a bell and Carlson, but I already have one b&c on the way for anothe rifle, and would like to try something different.

Short action or long action. Wood/laminate or synthetic?

It's a long action, 7mm rem mag. I'd really prefer synthetic I think. I'm trying to keep weight reasonable.

Laminate stocks weight about the same as composites unless you go to the ultra light fiberglass McMillans.
