What rifles are you planning to use in the 23/24 deer seaon?

RL-16 is what I'm planning on using to start load development. Here is the ladder I'm going to use to find signs of pressure:

Man I'd start a bit lower. Probably 59 grs going up .3 gr each. By 61.5 grs I'd bet you find pressure signs. Am at 3178 fps with only 58.7 grs.
By only going up .3 gr, you can try to find a speed node to start your seating depth test with while finding pressure, kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
I hate pulling bullets, so I tend to stay on the lower nodes.

Put 60 rounds through it so far, but need to get a scope now.
Not sure what to get, but want to get the best scope for it that I can.
This will be my new main hunting rifle.

I'll probably use my raggedy old 260 Rem that I just worked up a load for with 123 ELDM's. It's just an old Stevens 200 action with a refit Remington factory barrel using old Remington brass from another rifle. I'm sure the deer will laugh at me because it's not a fancy custom action and barrel. I know it won't keep up with the Creedmoor,
but this one is mine.

Haven't worked on a handload yet. Factory Hornady 143gr ELD-X is 1/2 moa ,3/8" with 147gr.eldm's, and 1/4" with Nosler 140 ballistic tip. I figure it will be a bughole gun with a good reload. I'm very pleased.

Savage 280ai shooting 162 eld-x pictured is what I will have with me the most this year but will also use a different 280ai shooting 150 eld-x, a 16" barrel 308 also in the picture shooting 168 amax when i'm in my tripod and when i'm after does will probably use my 22cm with 75 eld-m.

I'm hoping to get load development completed on my new Browning X Bolt in 270 WSM in time to use it. I want to see how a 122gr Hammer HHT does at 3500+.

The Ruger #1 in 25-06 with 90gr Hammers is a known quantity and will either be backup or primary rifle depending upon the XBolt.

I'm also working on getting my lightweight Savage in 6.5 CM switched over from W748 to StaBall Match powder for better temp sensitivity. Gonna see of that Match powder can run the 85gr Hammers at 3400+ like the W748 does.

The Savage Lightweight 6.5 Creedmoor is likely going to be my backup deer rifle again this year. Did load development for it yesterday to replace W748 with StaBall Match. Got a sub MOA group a grain below where I found stiff bolt lift…..and it's 29 fps over the W748 load.

Now to see about the 270 WSM….

Are the different bullets chosen on the basis of terminal performance at close vs long range or is it just a matter of what each rifle shoots well/shoots best with?
