I have a bunch of once fired 30-06 cases that have been once fired but i have no need for another 30 caliber since I have a win mag already. What would you wildcat this case to for long range deer gun say 700 yards?

Both of the above ... :) Either or.. hahah

I am kind of a 6.5 fan personally but you will never ever hear me knock a .25 :)

Get some H1000 and some WinLR primers.... BAM!! :)

Either of those you mentioned will do awesome with H1000. For that matter IMR7828ssc or H4831 would do extremely well....

I believe the 6.5 variants are better made with 25-06 brass but not that you can not use the 30-06 case. A 338-06 is a really efficient cartridge. I believe that a 225ish grain at 2700ish reasonable to expect.

Yeah...im a fan of 6.5 :) I might just make a plain jane 6.5-06 :) Plenty of oomph for me, and a hair easier to reload for in quantity.

If you dont mind the fire forming a 280 ai I like the nosler 140 ab @ 3100 fps, or the berger 168 vld hunting @ 2900.

Or possibly the straight 280 rem just size and load.

okay so what has to be done to neck the brass down. I have never done it before is going down to 6mm just more steps or harder?

Going to 6mm is adding another step. To go from 30 cal to 6.5 I usually run all my brass through a 280 die, then go from .284 to 6.5. To go to 6mm would just add a step. No biggie.
