What is your experience using staball 6.5. I found some quality 30 gr 17 cal bullets for use in my 17 Remington. Hodgdon reloading quoted a max velocity of 3900

Nothing that small, but have used in 6.5 Creedmoor with 140gr, 300 WM with 150gr , 338 Sherman with 213gr. My got to for the 300 WM and those bullets.

Nice! Might give it a go....
I use that powder in my 243AI. Decent velocity.
Last week i started working on 70gr Nosler BT.
Got up to 3800. That's beyond top, probably. Really not sure if I'm gonna hang with that bullet or not. Leaning more towards a 90 gr class bullet

I Have, at Least 5, awesome "Pet loads" w/ StaBall for, the 6 XC ( 95 gr, Cl Hunts, 107 gr SMK's and 108 gr., Elite Hunter, Bullets ) and in my 6.5 Creed
( 130 gr. "M's" for, Steel Plates / Varmints to, 143 gr. ELD-X's for, Deer / Antelope ) All using, "Thrown Charges" of, StaBall 65 & F-210-M Prs !
StaBall 65's "Burn Rate" is very Slightly, "Slower" than, H-4350.
The 130's are going, 2,850 fps and Sub 1/2 MOA, down into,.. the 3's w/ a slightly Modified, Factory 24", Tikka, T-3, in 6.5 Creed !
Medium sized Cases, w/ the Heavier, Bullet Weights,.. usually, "Work" well with, StaBall 65
Watch your, Pressures AT, the "Upper End" Velocity Loads,.. Unless you Have, a Mallet to,.. Open your Bolt !

It pressure spikes very fast.

That being said I created some 150 TTSX loads out of a 300 WSM moving at 3200 FPS. Pretty good results. I'm hoping to get a 6.5 CM load out of it here soon when I get time.

Use, most any, 130 to 147 gr Bullet @ Near Max. Velocity and "great Accuracy", IS,. NO,.. Problem !!
For less than, the 130 gr Bullet,.. Try Varget or, H-4895

Agree with you on all accounts @Idaho Lefty, but IMO, it should have been named StaBall 7-08, pretty awesome in that cartridge. My Sako 7-08 (23" barrel) shoots the 139gr LRX at over 2900fps without pressure and good accuracy.

YES,. StaBall 65 works FINE, in the 7mm-08 with, Medium weight ( 140- 162 grain ), Bullets for, Sure.
The 7-08 was One of, the "Medium sized, Cases" that, I was talking about !
Winchester probably Figured that, more People would Be shooting the 6.5 Creed than,.. ANY other Cartridge !
StaBall 65, usually Works well, anywhere where,.. H-4350, is called for.

Running staball6.5 in my 7-08 . Way fast for a barns 140 ttsx with no pressure issues in my gun . Runs just a touch under 3100 with excellent results.

??????? That's an awfully fast speed for 140 gr in that caliber....what's your barrel length?
