Yesterday my youngest son got his first big game animal, a cow elk. I was hoping to get him in where we could get one at close range but the way it worked out he had to take a 336 yard shot as we had no cover between us and the elk. It ended up being a perfect hunt with lots of great memories as my dad was able to come along and help out a well.

Between the three of us we carried 2 guns, a long range Sendero 270 with a 6.5-20X50 scope, and a light weight open site BLR 325wsm for denser areas. The 270 was shooting a devastating 140gr Berger that absolutely destroyed the heart and liver. He did a great job and has been smiling from ear to ear since, even after he cut his finger helping us debone it.

That's excellent, looks like a good size cow, those 140's do a good job on the wapiti!!

Well done guys. Great shot young man. A day you will never forget. In my opinion that is what it is all about. Enjoy those tasty steaks.
