Just got back and so happy we could take a couple Nebraska guys on their first elk hunt ever. Saw lots of legal bulls (spike unit) and some good ones 300-330. He was able to get his first elk and said he had a great time. Only answer I have is "politics in hunting" when they asked daily why they could not shoot any of the bigger bulls.

Washington?
I was working around Wenatchee, and kept seeing GREAT bulls. I must have seen 40 6x6s. I commented to a BLM guy about wishing I could draw a tag, and he just smirked and said it was a spike only unit. They only sold a few tags for branch atlered bulls in the unit. I looked at him like he was crazy, and he rubbed his fingers together like "big money".

Congratulations!! Nothing quite like elk hunting [and eating!] I have been hunting Elk since 1962, and because of
ample opportunity, have been able to fill the freezer with elk numerous times. This fall was no different....I took a 5x6
Bull on opening day here in BC. (September 1) Once you are hooked, there is no looking back. As far as a spike bull
goes, no better table fare can be found, IMHO.
Regards, Dave.
