An old neighbor of mine who is getting up in age has a 338-8mm Rem Mag that he's apparently had for a little while. He wants to get back into shooting it to see if the recoil is too much or not so he asked if I would reload some rounds for him. Without wanting to buy 500 pieces, I can't find any 8mm mag brass, however I have a stash of 7mm STW brass. I know the STW is made from the 8mm however is there any issue sizing up that far. The only difference in case dimensions is the measurement from the shoulder to the start of the neck which is 2.572 on the STW vrs 2.530 on the 8mm. Is this as easy as it sounds or am I missing something? Thanks in advance.........

Sizing up 1mm isn't anything. It can be done without problems, just run it through the sizing die.

Although, I would invite the user of this ammo to come to your place and reload his own.

Actually, you'd be perfectly fine using 300 or 375 H&H Mag cases as well, since they're ultimately the parents of this entire string of cartridges.

I'm completely with ScottB here, though. Long standing practice that I refuse to load for anyone, regardless of circumstances. There's also very, very few people whose reloads I'll use in my own rifles. Unfortunately, that's not being paranoid, it's just being mindful of the society we live in today. Sad, but true.

Besides, you might just make another handloader in the process, and that's a good thing.

Yes-----let him use your equipment. I will not load for anyone except myself of course.

No, I agree with you guys 100%, except this case is a little different, I just did not want to bore anyone with details. I've known this couple nearly my entire life, when I say an "old neighbor" really doesn't do it justice, a better description would have been like an extra set of grandparents.

I would totally trust the old codger to be left alone with my wife and full prescription of Viagra.

Seriously though I completely concur and understand especially in this day and age. He normally reloaded his own except he gave all his supplies away to his son years ago who lives a fair distance away, otherwise he probably would have done it himself. Thank you guys though for the helpful information............
