Does anyone have any experience with short barreled 6.5 Creedmoor rifles? I'm looking at putting together a plinker and want to put a short barrel on to accommodate for a suppressor. I'd really like to through the whole thing into a Chassis(leaning towards a KRG Whiskey 3). I'd really like some input and direction on where to find components, so if you are willing please fire away!

Thanks in advance

I'd like to try to match it up with something like the picture below.

How short?

I've had 16" and 18" factory rifles, other than the extreme velocity loss of the 156gr Berger EOL bullets, I was extremely happy with them.

Makes me want to build a full custom on a spare Anti Action or the Mohawk 600 243 sitting in the safe. Will be following along for inspiration.

I've got a short barreled (18") 6.5 Creedmoor & it is an extremely accurate platform. Once you figure the bullet/load the rifle likes, should be plug & play. Mine really likes the 127gr Barnes LRX, also shoots the Berger 135gr & 140gr VLD very well.

Good Luck

Whats the purpose of the build?
Hunting, target?
I'd like to just have something I can target shoot with, a sort of practice rifle so that I'm not draining my 300 wsm and 6.5 PRC hand loads on rocks. It'd also be nice to hunt out to 400 yards for deer. I was thinking that when my daughter is able to hunt that having it in a chassis would be good for her, just the adjustability.

Yeah I'd like to go with a 16 inch barrel with my 6 1/2 inch suppressor on it.

16" chopped tikka in an eh1tk
143 norma match is 2427fps
130tmk handload @ 2600

I also have a whiskey 3 on a match rifle. I think it would be a really cool urban tactical vibe to have one with a short barrel and a can.

I will say whiskey 3 folders are very rear heavy

Looks awesome! Did you just have the stock barrel cut off and threaded?

I've got a 16" creedmoore built with a Mcgowen #3 in 1:7.5 twist and MDT chassis for my now 7yo son. It wears an AB Raptor 4 stack. It's very accurate and a blast to shoot.

If I were to do it over, I'd go with a slower twist. 140s to 156s lost too much velocity for hunting at that barrel length, so 7.5 twist ended up being no benefit.

He shoots 123 ELDMs at about 2700fps and 108 Scenars at about 2800fps.

Yes, local smith removed the barrel and did the chop and thread job, with how the factory barrel shoots I haven't seen much need in a new one till it's burnt
