Short Barrel .308 Weight Savings and Ballistics

I just came back from the range. I was shooting my 308 with a 16.5 inch carbon fiber barrel, it ran a 150 gmx handload 2750, and the 165 gmx handload 2600. this is a mild load.
That's pretty dang good! Are you running a suppressor? I image you would gain a little velocity back with a can on a short barrel.

This is 20" C6.
152 HH 2799 FPS
175 FGMM 2554 FPS
215 Berger 2493 FPS

About 9# 15 oz with can

Not to hijack this thread, but any recommendations on factory bullets? I was planning on going 130 or 150 Barnes VorTX to get better velocity, but I am reading that 165/168 is the way to go in short barrel 308 for whitetail. I guess with max shots of 300yds its not a big deal

I run the 130 TTSX at 3100 FPS. Good to about 550-600.

I haven't tried any of these yet as I just got this rifle but I will this up coming season so this means nothing except I'm going to give these a shot on deer as long as the gun shoots them accurately.

Federal Premium w/ 168gr Berger
Barnes VorTX w/ 150gr TTSX
Hornady Precision Hunter w/ 178gr ELD-X
Nosler Trophy Grade w/ 165gr Accubonds

Those are the factory's I've narrowed it down too also. Please keep me posted and good luck!

I think I will be looking to go lighter monos too. The 152 HH is good, but for the ranges you describe and I have, Virginia woods, 150 yards is a pretty good poke.
