Can you chamber this short action for a .257 Roberts? Or does one have to go to the LA ( long action) for enough clearance..??

Well, SAAMI's max spec on a .308 Win is 2.810" COL....And the SAAMI max for the .257 Roberts is 2.780"...

And since 95% of .308 Win rifles are short-action reciever, I think you'll be safe with a short-action.

OOOKKKK...I was just looking at casing length. 257 = 2.233........308 = 2.015....so you can see how that was throwing me..!
