Short action cartridge in a long action?

Anybody done this lately. Turn a long action 30-06 into a short action? Does it feed? Does the smith need to do any extra work? Worth it?
30-06 to 260 on a Winchester model 70 CRF.
It may or may not feed properly; you might have to replace the loading ramp/follower or do some tweaking. It never hurt to consult with your GS. Good luck!

Usually no problem. I do this frequently as I like to seat bullets, so boat tail is not below neck/shoulder of case. This can make what is normally a 2.8 COAL into an almost 2.9 COAL, close to a 3.3 magazine. My latest project will be a 6.5PRC having a COAL of more than 3.0 inches.
Problems occur when there is not enough brass protruding from the magazine for bolt to touch on forward stroke and/or bullet tip hits front of magazine instead of feed ramp.
