in my experiance a quallity rifle scope is better than any sort of glasses that an eye doctor can possibly perscribe

Which is why I always say "Save up for the best glass you can afford and then save a little more and get better".

The cross hairs do get sharp and clear.

Then your problems most likely have to do with your change in position, quality of glass, failing to properly adjust parallax.
