Scope Problems

Not entirely, those parts can be made from higher strength AL alloys to reduce the metal volume and therefor the mass of the part(s). They can also be made from other metals like Magnesium and Titanium. There are also high strength copper based and nickel based alloys that could possibly be used.

"Plastic" is so generic these days. Could mean anything from the now roughly 100 years old brittle Bakelite to the latest carbon-fiber filled space age polymer.

It comes down to how informed or how much research the design team puts into the materials for the design of the scope parts.

I was going with the cheaper parts to cut cost save weight higher profit. I wish that they would make a tougher scope like the older scopes where on the older scopes is all

Have NF nx8 and nxs and very pleased with there optics would buy again for sure

I think, I have 9 Nightforce, some FFP, some SFP, my favorites are the ATACR - MOA's. All are 56 MM for light gathering . I am Looking for 2 more for a new build in 7-300 PRC and new build 22 Needmoor , I will not buy anything but NF, They not only went up the hills and mountains but also slid down a few plowing rocks ,snow and other debris. All held Zero and still work flawlessly. Thank God for Lens covers that save the glass.

Less expensive parts don't necessarily compromise the toughness of the product, but cheaper parts sure do. Materials are expanding in capability so rapidly that it's a real challenge to stay even marginally current. When the Accountants call all of the Engineering design decisions, then all bets are off.

Ive had one failure and it was with one of the newer leupold VX5 HDs. It just would not hold, POI would shift after 3 or 4 rounds. Re zero and the same thing would happen. I bought my first Nightforce last year and so far ive been happy with it. Only downside is it's heavy compared to the leupold.

Some Leupold just parsley seems to get of from its marks but still focus just doesn't focus accurately where the yards marks are
