Asking for advice on what scope to put on my Howa Superlight 6.5 CM rifle? I have a Burris Signature HD 3-15 x 44 and a Vortex Viper 6.5-20 x 44, those are my 2 choices. Hunting is Eastern whitetail in open field and wooded areas. Thanks for any thoughts.

I'd go Burris in this case. Woods hunting can get up close and personal to soni like the low 3 power option there.

If you're not buying a new scope, for your stated purpose, I'd go with the Burris.
Your Vortex is way too much power on the low end for woods hunting.

That being said, I still have 4 Burris scopes that I need to send in for warranty.
Glass is good, but their is at least one control on each of them that I almost need pliers to turn it.
Once I get the warranty taken care of, then I will sell them.

I've currently switched to Crimson Trace scopes.
Better glass, better quality for a decent price!

6.5x on the low end is not ideal for whitetail at all…definitely go with something 3x to 4x on the low end.
