Hi fellas, a friend of mine has a Browning A bolt 2, 7 mag, that he left in a gun case to long and now has some rust on the barrel. Is there anyway he can take that rust off without messing up the blueing. The rust is mostly on the end towards the muzzle and around the muzzle crown. I though real fine steel wool and WD40 but what do you fellas recommend. Thanks

Had some rust under my barrel next to the stock after a wet hunt. Had everything Cerakoted, no more rust.

Real fine steel wool and WD40 or any kind of oil is as good as it gets.

Just to follow up, my buddy used the penny and brush which worked good on the barrel but for the muzzle crown he used a undersized brass brush and fine steel wool and just kept working it slow around the crown. Thank goodness he got it before the rust had time to do anything real bad to the barrel. Just a couple of tiny pits on the barrel that you really have to look for to see.
