I have some fresh bottles of RL26 I'd like to try in my new to me 300 Win Mag with 168gr VLD bullets. I have new Nosler brass, 215M primers. Only need data for these components, I'm not willing to use any other powders, brass or primers. Not going to hunt with this rifle, it was my very good friend's who passed. Too nice a stock. Wby Vanguard 1970 or 1971 model, sn. shows first year of Vanguard producation. Was a recall on the bolt, I sent bolt to Wby for repair. Added a Limbsaver Airtech recoil pad, the original was rock hard.

Sorry about your friend. Nice to have his rifle to shoot and remember him by. I'd send an email to Berger for load data. They sent me some data real quick.

Thank you, I may email them. I have the Berger manual, they are on the conservative side and don't list RL26. Nearest is H1000.

Yeah I'm trying to remember what Ken Waters said for 168 gr in 300 WM. I think IMR 4831. That's just off the top of my head. Accuracy load, probably not the fastest.

I m shooting 78 grs R26 with 180 GK... very accurate and fast. 3100 FPS in 24" barrel. It's a stout load that I worked up to. With 168 you could probably reduce that to 75-76 grs and work from there. Mid 3100 s to 3200 FPS should be reachable.

Alliant shows some loads with 180's so adjust accordingly. The 300WM really loves the RL26 magical pixie dust and I bet the 300Wby will do so as well.

300 winmag
RL-26
Berger 168 VLD
Seated to COAL of: 3.34"

Start - 75g - est velocity of 3034fps (based on 26" barrel)
Max - 80g - est velocity of 3262fps (based on 26" barrel)

As always, work up from the bottom and don't keep going if/when pressure signs appear.

Sorry to hear of your loss - good luck.

the speer site should have data for it or go to alliants site look under products click on RL 26 and then recipes
