Remington Quality issues

I bought a new Sendero the other day in .300 ultra, today my Jewell trigger arrived (Thank you Mr. Scott!) so I took the rifle apart to install it. When I pulled the action out of the stock I noticed the magazine box was terribly bent and was installed upside down. Apparently some assembly person couldn't get the bolt to close over the upside down mag box so they just pried on it with a screw driver or something similar until it worked. It wasn't too much trouble to straighten it out and get everything back in working order I guess I just expected a little more from a $1200.00 rifle.

On the plus side the trigger is great!

300 RUM is awesome cartridge and Jewell is the best. This gun will be a shooter soon. gun)

But I would expect more for $1,200. I think the problem is that the rifle probably came from a factory that was built in 1918 and hasn't been retooled in 45 years. Add that to archaic work flow practices and this is what you get. At least the bolt handle hasn't broken off, so you are hopefully good to go now. Good luck with your new rifle and let us know how she shoots.

I ran some rounds through the magazine yesterday afternoon, the feed rails are so sharp they are scratching the heck out of my brass, it doesn't like to feed from the right side and the last round won't feed at all at all. Once I get all this lined out it should be good to go

you can probably polish the rails on the action to fix that issue. Your lucky the magazine wasn't ruined, and I'd be sure to let the Remington folks in on that issue! Who knows they might just send you a brand new magazine! Still with the issues you've found so far, I'd be going over that rifle with a fine toothed comb to see if there are any other issues to be deal with.

Yeah bc all you remington nay Sayers are un Amuuurican and are too scared to started anything via the interwebs.


I have been blessed with Remington's so far. Even my little bros model 770 is a 1 MOA rifle. I have seen a 597 shoot like crap though. Even after remington "fixed" the issue. My buddy ended up selling it and warned the guy who bought it.
