Looking at a new Remington mountain rifle ss at a local gun shop that is on sale for $599.00. I like the gun and for the price I think it would be a decent buy. The only thing is its not all that light, I think a different stock would help a little. Only problem I cant find a stock with a #1 contour barrel channel besides Bell and Carlson(which it already has). Would love a edge fill micky but having a hard time finding something to fit. Any ideas let me know, thanks.

I just looked up the weight of the mt rifle. 6 1/2 lbs is not that light? Remington even mentions that "the new Bell & Carlson aramid-fiber-reinforced stock helps reduce weight to a mere 6 1/2 lbs." It sounds pretty good as is to me.

Any chance the rifle you are looking at is an older model that weighs more?

If you do a custom order and get an edge McMillan they will make the barrel channel to your specs. Only issue is the lengthy wait.

It is the new mountain rifle ss with the thick, chunky gripped Bell and Carlson that weights about 32 oz. I have a edge fill McMillan remington hunter on my 300wm that weights around 22oz.

10oz's? That's what ur worrying about? There's cheaper ways to drop 10 oz than on your rifle. Just go through your other stuff and discard everything you don't need.

Ended up buying the mountain rifle in 7mm-08. I think ill be ordering a Manners EH8 Elite stock. 22-24 oz. Loosing 8 or 10 ounces really was not the reason for wanting a new stock. I really don't care for the chunky feeling Bell and Carlson. The Manners should do the job. The rifle will be getting topped with Talley lightweights and a Leupold 2-7x33. Excited to see what it will weigh when its all done. Should be nice to carry around chasing goats and muleys.

Took a few months but my Manners EH8 came. Elite shell, swamp camo, 13.75" lop with a 1/2" pad. PTG short straight bolt handle, badger mini knob and bolt fluting by LRI in Sturgis. Gun weighs 6lbs 6oz with a 2-7x33 leupold and talley lightweights.
Shot cheap american whitetail 139 grain ammo ok. Didn't take the time to shoot any handloads yet. After sighting in four guns in 30 degree weather it was time to go home and have a cup of coffee. 1.15" outside to outside. So 1.15-.284=.86" group? That how that works? Ill get some pictures up if I can figure it out. I am happy with it. I'll take a 1" group out of a sub 7lb gun any day.

If you want to shave another few ounces...
Alloy bolt shroud loses 2 oz.
TacOps carbon fiber bolt knob loses 2.5-3oz.
