Rem 700 Mag Extractor Help

Shooting cut short today and not happy about it. Shiny swipe on rim of brass and after 3 shots failed to extract.

Rifle:
Factory Rem 700 action bought as action. 300 RUM, Less than 20rds total through the thing. Bad extractor? Brass? Sizing issue? Ready.....Go!

If your rounds are too hot or chamber is dirty maybe too much pressure on extractor.
If you replace it be very careful putting in a new one - any more spring than necessary and it will snap.

Following. I hear about Remington 700 extractor failures, but have no experience with that happening.

Same as Ol' Red,I have owned many 700's and no problem but I know folks that has had problems.
Be sure to let a gunsmith replace it as it has to be oriented correctly and as Ridge Top said they break easily.I watched a gunsmith clean out the bolt extractor recess and break the first extractor and got the second one in.If it breaks on you it's your expense but if it breaks on a gunsmith it's his expense.

Thanks for the advise. he called today to let me know another action I ordered is in...so he got the story fresh from the source. I will let him look at it and see what he thinks. LRI M16 extractor install is $175. Looking pretty good if its 100% reliable.

on the phone he mentioned the rivet....if you look at last picture it looks like the round part(rivet) is scraping the rim of the case. when bolt it turned its only scraped 90 degrees like the exact motion of the bolt.....Hmmm might be on to something.

Reloads. Same spec as dummy round give to gunsmith when built.

Did you have your action trued as part of your build process? I have heard that truing can impact extraction with the factory extractor.

Ah, read it wrong, was thinking it used to be a RUM. Can you measure base to the shoulder of a fired case and a sized case? curious how much headspace you have.
