Painted stocks. Lets see them

Here you go. Two different browns with the lighter as the base coat, and the dark overlaid. For patterning I used a trout fishing dip net as a stencil.

In the past I've used a honeycomb pattern camo net but I didn't have any handy that day.

Below is the 300 Rum Sendero.

This is the 7mm STW done similarly but with the camo net for the pattern.

What little experience I have at doing camo on rifles has shown me that it's best to go with your lightest color as the base coat, and then overlay the darker colors.

WildRose, may I ask how you prep your guns for painting?

Also - off topic - I really like your sling, looks like it keeps your bipod from digging into your back. Many small kitties in your area? Out west we have tons of them.

Those are sweet lookin rigs Wild Rose.. really like that STW pattern, very nice

Here's an MPI stock I had made-up for my 264 recently... custom Endura Paint-job. Supposed to be guaranteed more/less bombproof far as rubbing and wear goes.. time will tell that-one though**

Here's the last stock I painted. It started out as a black choate tactical, then ended up like this..I ended up selling it though a while back but it turned out pretty good for being my first real attempt at a t DIY it on a centerfire.

I'm thinking about painting my sendero stock od green with some kind of pattern. I need some ideas anyone have pics of painted stocks?

I assume you intend to do this yourself? I'm far too much of a perfectionist to DIY a stock :D So.... here are a couple examples of professional "paint Jobs":

Top is a Rem 700 in 6-284, Bottom is a Stiller LoneStar in 6.5WSM Both jobs done by LongRifles Inc.

Yes, LRI did all the work in house, including the stencils. All done in multiple stages of Cera-Kote & baked on. Should be as close to bullet proof as it gets.

I strip off any oil residue with carburetor cleaner and give it a light sanding.

When I get set up in the new place I'll have a bead blaster in my shop so I can really do it right.

Not too many Bobcats out here, and the cover is so favorable to them they are damned tough to find. Very few get shot, most you see mounted are jumped out of cover by bird hunters or caught in traps.

As for the sling mounts I started using the side mounts when I was dragging around a modified M-14 on long ops. Not having all that crap digging into your back is a real pleasure. The rifle will also lay against your back very securely where it's not flopping around.

Nice. I'll have to look into the endura. Never heard of it before.

Around here the brown tones are really all you need and you can get one too dark in a hurry.

You can look up my "summer makeover" thread and see how effective the camo on the RUM is here. I have one shot there where it's only setting ten yards away between me and the truck and it would take a very good eye to even pick it out.

Nice looking rifle BTW irrespective of the Paint Job!
