Opinions on a long range caliber

Perfect rig for you! Impact Precision Action with Prefit Proof Carbon Barrel! Just need trigger and stock, bottom metal/mag and have an killer rifle set up in minutes.

This would be a lights out combo, which I would have done but I got impatient waiting to find a 787 action so went another route
Kicking myself now. I have a 6.5 PRC in same combo and it was < .5 MOA first group.

My wife and I have shot steel at 1 mile. She does it with a 6.5 prc with 140 grain berger. I use a 7 rem mag with a 168 berger . Her rifle has 62 feet of drop...my 7 rm has 59 ft of drop. The wind is the bigger deal. It can be done with the 6.5 but its a challenge. Go heavier on bullets.

I am thinking of getting a rifle for just long range target/steel shooting. Something for a mile and further. I was thinking 300 PRC because I already have a 300 PRC in a light weight hunting rig. The long range rifle would be a heavy barreled gun so it will on a bench or in the prone position. Other than the 300 PRC, I was also thinking 7 PRC or 6.5 PRC. What ever I get will be suppressed.

What are your thoughts?

Jason
300 win mag can do pretty much anything 😎

My thoughts...

If you do 7PRC, you'll definitely be depressed.

Oh, wait...
You said suppressed...
Yeah, i still stand by what I said.

Better off getting a throating reamer and seat the heavy bullets out on a 7mm Rem Mag.

More case capacity, abundant and inexpensive brass choices.

No way! A guy with handle of std7mag banging on the 7PRC... 🤣

The 300 prc with 245 gr Berger is fairly cheap to shoot and outperforms the 338 lapua with the 250 gr Berger and the 300 gr Berger. This is just going off of my experience and my load with the 300 prc with 245 gr Berger leaving at 2808 fps

I know I'll get beat down by the 338 crowd but I'm just saying that the 300 prc can get it done for long range and a lot cheaper than the 338's if cost is an issue. Less powder, cheaper brass it's win win in my books.
