So here is a funny story. This has been a very rough deer season for me here in SC. Just not seeing the deer like usual, I have only bagged 1 all year! So anyway, I am going hunting today, and I tell my wife, you know, I am going to change rifles, maybe that will change my luck. So I sort through 30-odd dear rifles and select my custom .257 Weatherby. I am sitting in the stand and out walks three swamp donkeys! About as big deer get here in SC. I aimed and squeezed, but nothing. I worked the bolt and squeezed again, but nothing. The three dear must have thought I was crazy, and they decided to stay and watch the madman trying to fix his rifle. Nuttin........
Turns out the custom trigger worked fine in the warmer weather, but the cold evening changed the metal just enough for the sear to not engage. Moral of the story: do not adjust hunting trigger for 14 ounces.
My son ran his 300 WM over to me but the deer left. You really just have to laugh!
