I am a big fan of 130 Grn. Ballistic tips in my .270 Win deer rifle, strictly for use on White tail deer. I have recently loaded the Nosler 150 Grn. Accubond Long Range,(ABLR ) in my Weatherby Mark V , with 26 Inch factory barrel, in 270 Weatherby Mag. for a two day session at the Bang Steel Shooting School. Loaded to modest 2900 fps with 66.7 grns, the Rifle/ Load combo performed extremely well at ranges for 720 ;860 ;1000; and 1200 yards. Hitting Steel targets again and again. However, this load ,and the 2 day school session was to prepare me for a Whitetail Deer Hunt in North Carolina, where the Soy Bean fields will offer a possible 500-yard shot. I do not know how this 150Grn. ABLR bullet will perform hitting a deer at 500 yards ,with 2127 fps/and 1500 pounds of energy. Is this bullet to tough for whitetail? Should I increase the velocity to 3000 fps or even 3100 fps Muz Vel. to insure rapid expansion. Anyone with experience with this bullet in a Hunting application ,please give your opinion. Thanks Guys
