New to me issue with brass

Cases were dented from firing, have been cleaned post firing, but exhibit traces of carbon at the base of the neck and shoulder, the Hornady manual puts you just off max, and since H4350 powder is actually ADI AR2209 it's odd that their recommendation with a 180 gr bullet also puts you midway between the starting and maximum loads. See http://www.adiworldclass.com.au/data-rifle/300-winchester-magnum. I'd say anneal your necks as you have had 3 firings and resizing. Are you using a bushing die or a normal FLS? Maybe your die is overworking the brass, it didn't happen on the initial firing with that load did it?

are these coming out of the rifle like this , or after you resize them ?

if they are coming out of the gun like this ;
these are dents caused by low pressure . you need to up the powder charge . did you get this load from a book ? it's light . it looks like min load is around 68 or 69.

if this is happening after you run them through the resizing die , they are lube dents . try to not get lube on the case shoulder .

either way , that's a light load .
You nailed it. No need to look further.

Threads like this are what makes forums like this so valuable. So much good info comes out (some horseshat also) but overall pretty good.
I never heard of the under pressure dimples before but can see the logic in it.
Anyone who reloads new or old should own a Speer number 9 reloading manual 1974 it solves most any question that has ever been asked on this forum about reloading and the problems that may occur I started with this manual and still revert back to it even though I've about wore it out over the years your question is answered in this post if you can read what is with the picture. Here is the load data from the Hornady App:

I was reading your post, I noticed that the Hornady App doesn't have all the loads that the 11th edition Hornady book has listed. They have H4350 from 57.8 @2600 fps, 61.3 @2700, 64.6 @2800, 67.9 @2900. I don't like the way they list 10 bullets from 178 A-tip to 180 GMX to 180 flat base Interlocks. 64 gr. is the middle on the chart. Years ago, I use 73.0 H4831 sc with 180 Interbonds.

Hornady 11th edition list 178 to180gr. at 58@ 2600 to 67.9 gr. @ 2900, not sure why the App. doesn't show this info. His load is in the middle of the chart. I shot a 300 WM with 73.0 or H4831 SC and 180 interbonds, worked well on elk and deer.

Uping the powder charge may fix it. If not.......

See post 64. May help to change 1 or all.

Seat bullet deeper into the case.
Use a mag primer.
More neck tension.
Faster burn rate powder.

Use a bushing die & only size 3/4 of the neck.
