New Savage 110 Ultralite with Proof CF Barrels

I shot my 6.5 PRC for the first time on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I forgot my cleaning rod, so I only took two shots (I wanted to clean the barrel for break-in before shooting again), but it was great for those shots. Very mild recoil too.

Any updates on these rifles?? Been looking at options for a semi custom with a tikka or R700 but keep coming back to this because of its price point. Leaning towards a 300wsm but the 28 nosler is a very close second.

Ok, I will explain further. The problem is with the COAL limitations of the internal magazine. I tried finding bottom metal that would work with it. Maybe Wyatts? This is why I don't have a High Country right now. As far as the chassis...28 oz XLR Element 3 chassis. The Accustock weighs 35.56 oz.
I've been debating this exact thing. I know that I'm digging up an old post and I'm sorry. It looks to me that the XLR element only offers it in a short action. It also appears that the ultralite is one action length unless they have the overall lengths wrong on the website. What am I missing?

They are multiple actions.

Long action for 28 nosler/280ai/ etc
Short action for 6.5prc/creed/300wsm etc

Magnum seem to all be large shank diameter (6.5 prc/28 nosler)

Non magnum seem to be small shank (280ai/308/6.5 creed)

Well, that's gonna be an issue then for my bank account. I'll be adding one of these in 300 wsm in the near future.

Mine shoots great. First loads with H1000 (58.0 grains) and 143 ELDx (2.950 COAL) shot around 1/2". I got 4 lbs of Reloder 26 and 300 Berger 140 Elite Hunters I also want to try.

So a short action large shank (not that the shank size matter other than remembering it if you order a different barrel)

I'm waiting until I finalize my refi and then probably going to grab either a 6.5prc or a 280ai

Took my 30-06 back out on the long distance range. Cold bore @ 720 yards was a hit, ~10" low. 2nd, center hit. 2 more at 840, 2 hits. Took it out to 1040, 2 for 3. 4 of 6 at 1200 yards. WInd calls were my problem, not the gun. Packed it up and headed out hunting. Took at 155" whitetail at 330 yards. Rifle performs as is.

Dragging this back again, those of you who have had them, what are your thoughts? Pretty much decided on the PRC for my wife as her out west rifle, but curious to hear from others as well
