hey guys, i've been shooting for a while but just recently got an interest in longer ranges... i've got about 500 yards to shoot, and like i said, i'm a complete newb.. all i own are hunting rifles, my favorite is a Sako 75 finnlight .280 rem. with a nikon buckmaster 4.5-14 mil dot scope. i'm willing to sacrifice this rifle in order to get into some long range stuff. my buddy offered me this trade:
a remington 700 pss in .308, has has the hs precision stock custom camo painted, a softer pad installed and lead added to butt stock for weight. the rifle has a leupold mark 4 base installed with 8x40 screws(NO SCOPE) badger ordnance m4 bottom metal. Devcon bedded action. Low rd count, (UNDER 250). sling, and fitted pelican hard case.

Straight up for my Sako, scope, and 2 stainless clips.

what should i do? my main concern is i've got about $1400 into the sako, and i really don't want to lose money

First let me welcome you to LRH

Next let me say I wouldn't trade that rifle away.
That 7mm is a good one for LR training to 1000.
And hunting to about 700 yards or so.

The .308 wouldn't be any better IMO.
So just go shoot it. gun)............................. lightbulb

Thanks for the welcome! I've gotten a ton of helpful info from the forums, even though this is my first thread...
I was afraid that's the answer I was going to get on here. I was really looking forward to my first real range gun. But alas, I'll wait for the right deal to come along. Thanks for the advice!!

i think your getting the short end of that trade.

I would never trade a Sako for a Rem.!

yes, after some more resarch added to the advice i received on here, i turned down the trade... Seems the .280 specifically is a little more rare than i realized. Does anyone know a rough estimate of how many were imported in that caliber (.280 rem.) i know its a long shot (npi). just thought i'd ask.
