new 300 ultra

Well I just picked up a remington 700 sendero today in 300 ultra and need so advice on what to shoot from it... I want to shoot 230 bergers so I was wondering what would be the best brass? Anyone have any good loads with the 230s they'd like to share? They would be greatly appreciated!

When I had my Sendero 300RUM I could not get bergers to shoot to save my soul. A friend has a Sendero 7RUM and has the same problem. I ended up going with 180gr hornady SST's. Just to hit the lands I would almost have to load them out to 4". I also install a wyatt extended box magazine and jewell trigger. I hated the stock trigger.

I can't comment on the 230's but I do shoot the 215's. First they were very easy to get to shoot. All seating depths were shooting at 1" or under at 100yds. Ended up with a COAL of 3.843" 91gr of H1000, 215 Federal Match primers. Shoots around 5/8" at 200yds and is at 2990fps with a 6fps ES. Sendero with action work and other stuff. Factory barrel. 230's should be relatively easy to get to shoot. Send Berger a email they will send you some load info.

I don't shoot a Sendero but I do shoot Remington 700 in 300 Ultra with the stock factory weight barrel and have a load using Bob Cautarucio 211 grn. bullet with 95 grains of Retumbo CCI mag. primer Rem brass and load that to maximum mag length which gives me 3150 fps. and shoots groups of .317"! I'm going to be using this load in Montana in two weeks on my Elk hunt. This is out of a 26" tube as well. Sighted at +3.3" high at 100 yrds. drop is -19.6" at 500 yrds with 3000 ft.lbs. knock down power plenty I would say.

Alright guys another question, I was just scrolling through HSM ammunitions download that shows what cartridges they offer with bullets and velocities, it states that they're 300 win mag shoots 210 bergers at 3020 and they're 300 ultra shoots the same bullets at 2931 fps. What the hell am I missing here? Comparing the size to the both the ultra has much more powder compacity!

I have that exact rifle but with a few upgrades. (Skim Bed, Timney Trigger, DE 4 Port Brake)

My load is a 210 Berger VLD, 92 Grains of Retumbo, Fed 215 Primers. I think I ended up .020 off the lands. Too long for the mag, but shoots great single shot.

If you decide to try the 210's definitely follow Bergers advice on finding the proper seating depth. Find the sweet spot first, then adjust powder.

have a tough time hitting 2800 with the sierra 220 in my 300 win

can get 3K even with 225 hornady and rl50 without fuss in my 300rum

Looks the same format as the data Berger sent me a long time ago and they said it was QuickLoad data. So it isn't real world accumulated data.

300 RUM - 230 Hybrid target - 86 gr H1000 - REM Brass - 215 match primer - 3.770 coal = 3060 fps. The Hybrids are not as seating depth sensitive as the VLD's are. I started with fitting them in my magazine (Wyatt) and they shot under .250 moa all day.
