Need help with an accurate hunting load in 7MM Remington Mag

I've tried Reloder 19 & 22, H1000, Retumbo, and now 7828 SSC. I've settled on 7828 SSC as my powder of choice because of it's consistancy.

I shoot Nosler brass, Berger 168 VLD's, Federal 215M primers, and 65.5gr of 7828 SSC. Can't remember seating depth, but your's shouldn't really matter much being that you have a Wby with lots of freebore. Just don't seat it up into the lands, and you should be good.

You will definitely need to work up to that load, as it's a very warm load.

My 26" barrel was netting me 3,115 fps MV verified by my MagnetoSpeed V2.

Sorry. Posted at the wrong location. Do you know what the COAL was?

Thanks.

COAL is not important at all, except for measuring to see if it will fit in your magazine. What you need to measure is base to ogive for true accurate runout measurements. You will need a comparator for your calipers. I use the Hornady comparator set. And also use the Hornady cartridge overall length gauge with the modified case gauges to measure how deep my chamber is and how deep the bullet can be seated.

Howa 7 mag with 64gr of RL22, Either Fed 215 primers or CCI 250's. .5 MOA at 100 yds, 3150fps pushing Barnes 145gr LRX. Barrel is 24" and 1:9.5 twist. I have also tried the 168gr Barnes and H1000 but twist rate is too slow to stabilize the bullet. You might want to consider H1000 for the heavier bullets in 7 mag. FWIW Gunwerks 7 mag load is 70gr H1000 with the 168 VLD Bergers

That twist should be just fine for 168's. My 7mmRM's are 9.5 twist, and stabilize 168's with no problem. Your barrel probably just hates H1000. I've found several of my rifles don't like it. None of my 7mmRM's liked Retumbo at all, either. I've still got almost a whole pound of it sitting on the bench, because nothing I have likes it.

Browning x bolt 7mm rem mag. 1 in 9.5 twist. 71 grains retumbo pushing 168gr vld. This fun loves it. 3115fps. I will take that pound of retumbo so you don't have to look at it anymore

Shooting 70 gr. of H1000 with both Nosler 150 gr. BT and Hornaday 154 gr. SST. Still not getting acceptable groups, ok, but not where I think they should be.

Might have to go back to the RL22, went to the H1000 because everyone said it was more temperature resistant compared to the RL22.

That's why I strayed away from H1000 and Reloder powders (including 19 and 22)....It wasn't what everyone said it was in my personal experiences with them.

Try working up a load with IMR 7828 SSC and Berger 168 VLD's. Mine eats them for lunch.

H1000 does best with heavy bullets and long barrels. My 7RM with a 9" twist and 28" Brux barrel loves it with 162 grain AMAX and SST.

3145 FPS and .85" 200 yard groups (bench with sand bags) with the AMAX.

What exact load did you settle on?
Im doing load development for my Criterion 24" 7mag tomorrow with 162 amax (.020 jump) cci250 and 70 to 72 gr h1000.
