Howdy-

What is the measurement of a HART #5 Barrel at the 22" mark?
Thank you in advance!

Here's why:

I'm looking to make a rifle (7x57) with a #5 Hart barrel. The MFR's site says that the 26" barrel is .700 at the muzzle. I'm looking to cut the barrel to 22" and then thread 5/8-24 for a direct thread can. I've read that I need anywhere from 0.725 - 0.750 to provide enough shoulder for a direct thread suppressor.
I know the #5.5 is 0.750. but I'm trying to keep it as light as possible.

Will a #5 work?

Looking at their print for #5 the straight tape part is .9 to .7 = .2" of taper from the muzzle to the beginning of the radius. E 21.5"- F 2"=19.5" of straight taper. .2"/19.5=.0102564" taper per inch. At 22" from the end is .700 plus (.0102564x4) = .741" You wanted .725" - .750". Looks like it should work fine.
