I really want to get into shooting and hunting with a muzzle loader. I need help getting started. I dont know the first thing about them. I know that I dont want an inline at this time.... maybe later. I build and hunt with my own longbows so I love the traditional aspect of a cap.
So my question is where do I start? I found a 54 Cal Thompson Center yesterday at a local gun shop for 270. I was thinking that I wanted a 50 cal. with a 24" barrel. Is this too sort of a barrel? But if this gun is a good buy I will just start with it.
