Hey all,

I'm looking for thoughts on what minimum velocity you will need on deer sized game with the Sierra gamekings? I'm shooting 30 cal 180 grain bullets

Manufactures will normally state what there minimum velocities are, but if you cant find them
I would use 1800 ft/sec as a rule for most bullets (They may expand at less velocity , but may be
unpredictable.

So if you hold the distance that the bullet reaches 1800 ft/sec and enough energy (For deer I like 1000 ft/lbs)for the game (one or the other, which ever comes first) you will be fine with bullet performance as long as the shot placement is good.

Just an opinion

I called one of their techs a few years ago regarding the 200 GK. He said 1500'sec would expand reasonably but 1600+ was better.
