McCowen Barrels

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with McCowen barrels. I am looking at an Interarms Mark X action with a 26 inch McCowen bull barrel in 7mm mag.

Could you mean McGowan?? I believe he was a barrel maker quite a few years ago. Don't know if he's still in business. As I recall his barrels were about of the same quality as Douglas. If it really is McCowan then obviously that's not him.

It has got to be a McGowen barrel,I had one on my first 6-284 and it was the biggest piece of crap that I have experienced to date including factory barrel's. it was oversize enough that I could almost fire 257 slug's and the interior surface was so rough that it would rip off a couple thread's off a patch while cleaning.
My advice:run away or plan on a new barrel.
