Manners Stock question (crack?)

Just received my custom rifle and took it apart to inspect and noticed this (crack maybe)? Wondering if yall think this is a problem or shot it and see type of thing? It's in a manners MCS-CS2. Asked the GS too but would like other's opinion. How could it be fixed, bedding material? Remove 1/2" or more and bed? IMG_8828.jpegIMG_8829.jpegIMG_8830.jpeg
 
Not too happy with this stock and a LA. Made a switch bbl with a terminus Zeus and couldn't remove bolt.. Had to take a dremel to the stock after spending over $8k on this. Why the GS didn't realize this or inform me of this blows my mind. So I'm supposed to take action off the stock to remove bolt?? What if a guy needs to pull bolt in the field? Does look sweet though. They will fix it for you, at anytime you ask.
And advise the crack matters none. I shot one for years very similar with no ill effects.
That's from speaking with the owner, not an employee or phone operator.

The pillar is the support there as you know.
 
While I don't know if the crack would affect the use, I would send it to Manners to fix. Also, have them correct the top of the stock for the channel for the bolt clearance.

I would never use that GS again. He apparently did not test fit the rifle at all, QA was terrible, and if he did not immediately ask you to bring it back to get fixed, that says a lot.
 
Not quite the same issue ( no crack ) but Mc millian did the same thing to me on a custom stock for a Mauser action . My gs did his first part . New brux barrel tried action and had the timney trigger ready but not installed yet for fear of damage. Mc millian wanted the rifle to ensure custom fit . I let them know id pay what ever the cost as it was my grandfather's old gun and no expense was being spared. Got the call it was good to go and had picked up the action for final cerakote and finish work . When I finally got the rifle and cycled the bolt it hit the stock just like yours and chipped the paint . My wife took the rifle back up to mcmillan for a fix . They used a dremil and cut the stock to clear the bolt . Just it's not cut square and is real obvious. Needless to say im still ****ed . They had the action for almost a year to fit everything with a custom order and a id pay for all custom fit time and still got it messed up . Then just offered a refund if I returned the stock . No one makes anything even close to replace it so im stuck with it as is .

Agreed! I am fortunate to have no shortage of reputable GSs in my area. To me, it is important to establish a good working relationship with your GS. I have been working with my go-to GS since 2003 and have always served me well.
 
You would think. For the outrageous prices that Manners and McMillan charge for the stocks you would hope for above and beyond quality control and customer service. I like the stocks would mind having one for my sendero. But for the price of one of them I can buy another gun or bunch powder and bullets. Boyds or Richard's microfit may not be as fancy but they do work. Unfortunately Richard microfilm need some finishing by customer depending if you get 99% finished or 96%. Hope they do something for you.

Hi Ryeguy, just saw your thread, I will shoot you a PM with my cell, shoot me a text or give me a call we will get you fixed up asap. That is a crack in the heavy fill, it is hard to say what has happened until I get some more info and picks. Has the barrel action been bedded, on all of are standard inlets, we recommend that the lug and tang be bedded, then make sure that the pillars are relieved so that the action screws do not act like a recoil lug. No matter what everything has a lifetime guaranteed no matter you are the first or last owner. Thank you , talk soon
