Wondering how others lubricate their bolts. I have one friend who keeps his totally dry and has for over 40 years. I have been using Break Free but now plan to start also adding a little TM bolt grease on the lugs.

Comments are appreciated.

A little grease on the backside of the bolt lugs and a tiny bit on the camming lug at the rear of say a Rem 700 bolt and from time to time I take the bolt apart and wipe dry anything inside the bolt and add a tiny bit of really good oil

That about does it.

Synthetic grease at the extraction cam and tail end of the lugs, and a bit of either oil or grease on the bolt body. Wear surfaces need lube or they will eventually wear.
I'm more concerned with lack of lube at the lugs altering headspace than anything else(via gauling lugs), but I saw a pump gun in 243 once that was shot dry and it took three men and a baby to get the action open with factory stuff; put a few drops of oil where they belonged, and all was well in the world.
