Of course tails grow taller on the net. What would you say is the longest shot that has taken game on this forum by a trusted member?

So I can throw my own minor accomplishment in the ring. My longest is at 252 yds.

I know not much but it's my best.

Tom

Mine's only 526 yds and that's somewhat like a sand wedge for some of the guys on this forum.

Elk 1038 yards
Deer 1168 yards
Black Bear 1016 yards
Coyote 1276 yards
Rockchuck 1073 yards

Most of them are on video. However there are some that I believe have taken game much futher than this, especially varmints.

elk 630 with a 338 ultra mag 225 nosler accubon. Kirby is making it in to a 338 edge that i hope to have back at the end of the mouth

Elk- 127 yards
deer -153 yards
antelope- several in the 80-110 yard range.
Grizzly Bear- 63 yards
Prairie dog- 100 yards
These were with a bow.

with a handgun elk, deer and antelope in the 100-200 yard range with open sights.

With a rifle:
Mule deer-1340 yards 300 wby
elk- numerous from 800-1200 yards with calibers 264, 277, 284, 308, 338.
antelope- many at long range with several calibers
caribou- many in the 600-1100 range with several calibers
moose- 1100 yards with 338 winchester
Black bear- between 1100-1200 yards with 7mm wby
Who knows what all else, bunch of stuff over 40 years though.

My furthest was an elk at 1188.
Goodgrouper killed one at 1408 last year. I helped pack it out. Might be the furthest one here.

The longest shot I have access to on game is going to be 488 yds. I've passed on that shot twice. No experience at that distance.

Some of those distances are impressive. Especially the ground hogs. Man is that a ways away for such a small critter.

1137 on a Kansas WT doe and a WY antelope @ 820 are my two longest with my 338 Lapua built by Long Shot Precision of Conrad MT. I also witnessed a 1002 yard shot on a gopher made by Joe Starns when I picked up my rifle.

.

2 Ground Hogs, first at 628 and the second at 605 through the head. Found out later that they were luck, because my load was pretty poor. I've got a good one now using 200grn SMK's. Both with a 300WSM.
