Leupold Mark 4 16x40 , IOR Valdada 16x42 , etc

On what kind of a rifle and for what type of shooting , a shooter would pick a fixed 30mm 16 power scope like Leupold Mark 4 16x40 LRT or IOR 16x42?

Any kind of rifle they didn't want to hunt at close range or at/near twilight (begin morning or end evening).

It have been my experience that the IOR has better glass. My Valdada G2 is brighter, the image is warmer and clearer than my Leupold mark 5 and Schmidt pm II.
