John I was searching through some of the old posts hear and seen some guys were giving you [censored] about your video... just wanted to let you know VERY! good video, well put together, not to much talking, just alot of good hunting scenes, I'm looking forward to your 3 DVD set. I know John may not come hear often and this post may fall on deaf ears ...but I just wanted to give the video a thumbs up! I'm sure there is room for improvement , but for the $$$ it was a great DVD.

I also enjoyed it, it is for enjoyment, not learning to shoot long range. John takes a responsible approach and has some good things to say.

Thanks for the input guys.

The person who took the cheapshot has chosen not to explain what I did that seemed to bother him so much. I suspect there is a little ego problem. I also would not say he has much experience at shooting in the real world.

His was the first and only negative response (about the content of Beyond Belief) from some one who actually viewed the video that I know of so I am happy about how well it has been accepted.

Cabela's called last week and I think we will be able to get it in their catalogs and Sportsman's Warehouse has sold a pile also.

Lots of interest in the precision shooting as guys are figuring out they don't have to settle for mediocre results and the old limits don't really apply if you are willing to put in the time and get the right tools.

John,

Can I pre-order your next DVD's so that I am sure to get them ASAP? Great work illuminating the terminal effects of outstanding marksmanship.

Charles

I agree whole-heartedly.

On another note, let me just say that while some of the things I have seen on your dvd and tv show raise some suspicion, it is the only program I can stand to watch on the outdoor channels. Most of the fellows who have tv shows couldn't hit the barn if they were standing inside it! And they seem to believe that the world ends at the Mississippi! I for one would rather watch a cow elk get thumped from afar any day over another &*#@*&^ turkey getting shot at 25 paces with a shotgun by some overweight hillbilly parading around like that was a tuff shot!

I always think that there are probably people flipping through the channels that have never hunted before, and they stop on some Ray Stinking Brock show, and get the idea that we're all un-educated, slobby, redneck, blood-lusters with an insatiable appetite for antlers. That would be the impression I would get by watching some of these shows if I didn't know any better.

FOr me as I am sure is for you, the trophy isn't always about the rack size. The trophy can also be the shot!

Congrats John and thank you for producing the only outdoor show I can watch!

Goodgrouper, I agree with you in most of what you're saying, just don't get the overweight people and the hillbillies to dislike you!

GG I feel what your saying about them $@&%*$@ turkeys! I like turkeys and hunting them but I aint seen nobody shoot turkeys at 500 plus YET!! I wanna see some big guns when I watch the outdoor channel! I am anxiously awaiting guntec tv that I read about on midway!

Goodgrouper,

I am in Midvale today, 23 Apr. I have to do a short seminar on Long Range for The Sportsmans Warehouse at 11:00 AM.

If you can make it I will answer any questions on the show or video you have.

Feel free to ask anything here if something you saw is a little suspicious. I always like to hear what guys think and if anything tripped your BS detector I want to know so we can do a better job in the future.

John,
I would love to come to Midvale today to see you but I will be working all day today in Provo.

Any chance of coming to the Provo Sportsmans Warehouse today or in the future?

If not, I will ask a few questions here soon. Thanks.

GG,
Lay off the turkey hunters a little because not all turkey hunting is created equal just as you describe about the difference between long rang deer hunting, and shooting one underneath of a corn feeder.
Here in Northern California there may only be one turkey per 2,3,4 or even 5 sq. miles. Sooo the hard part is finding and getting that one turkey to come to ya. But there is no disputing that the shot deffinitely isn't the hard part of tukey hunting. So just realize that turkey hunting may not be as you have seen on tv. I work increadibly hard for the birds I kill and just got back yesterday from a 4 day trip where I didn't even hear a single bird. But that is turkey hunting sometimes.

But I do agree with the rest of what ya said!

I too hunt turkeys here in my home state and can attest to the difficulty in hunting them out west. What I was trying to say is that I am sick of turkey hunts east of the mississippi because that is usually all they show. I would like to see some Rio hunts instead of Easterns.

Sounds good to me... but it may be one boring tv show cuz I don't know that one of them spoiled brats could even kill a turkey where they don't run rampid and without the aid of a guide who caters to their every need. Not to mention on public land (something they have never heard of).

I'm not sure who you are referring to but I have problems with the video (aside from wounding the elk because no ACI was used)
My criticism of the video: It's a teaser. It shows lots of mid-range shots ( ultra long range to those not on this form - mid range to folks on this forum) and at the end it says buy the series so we can show you how we did it.

What qualifies you to make the ego speculation? What evidence do you have on his experience? I'd love to compete against you in 500 yard free hand silhoeutte ( I might get beat but I'm better than most )

I thought it was well produced and videoed sans the really hooky part at the end with the flashing advert. My speculation is you got yourself a free hunt by promising to feature the guide in your video. If that's true, it's highly unethical that you didn't disclose your gift. Why else would you soil an excellent video with porn type advert flashing?

I don't understand how the yotes only got winged, when I shoot them at range they don't make any noise.

I will admit my expectations were too high. My brother thought it was an A+++ video - but he doesn't hang out on this forum.

Wow! I didn't start this thread to creat a whole new [censored] storm... I thought for what the movie was it is worth the $$$ and like I said it well put together pretty well. I will agree that there were alot of mid range shots 300-500 yards but this is what we have to view to date other than the Point Blank series..which I will be ordering all three come Monday from Butch...b1g_b0re I can appriciate your views on the subject....but if the video botherd you that much ..why don't you go make one and show us how it's done....heck I would buy it from you...just to see the 500 yard off hand shot. Not being sarcastic ...I know alot of guys on this Forum possess the skills to harvest game at extreme ranges...we need more people making videos promoting the art of long range hunting.
