If you were limited to three centerfire rifles, one for varmits, one for medium size big game and one for the larger stuff, what would they be? My choices would be a 223rem, 25-06, and a 338 Win Mag.

130gr. 180gr. 208-215gr. 30-06
Haha.

Seriously, 223. 30-06. 338, of some flavor

I was going to say the '06 but I LOVE my .270 with 140gr SSTs and BTSPs and it is a proven rifle out to 750yds! I wouldn't shoot anything bigger than whitetail at that range, but it shoots great and I know it will sit deer down at 700yds!

You definitely can not deny the effectiveness of the good 'ol 270 Winchester.

Nope, none of those old rounds can be let down or ignored, the .30-06 is going to be 109yrs old and is still one of the most popular cartridges around. The .270 emerged in 1925 and also remains one of the top sellers, seems like shells come and go, but the ol' tried and true ones stand their ground.

Target - .308 Win
Varmint/Deer - .25-06 AI
LR shooting/Hunting - 7mm STW or .300 Ackley (I would be fine with either one).

It's a toss up between a .22-250 and a .243 for Varmint/target but then other two I have. A short barrel .308 and a longrange 7mm Rem Mag covers everything I'll ever hunt.
