I'm relatively new here and apparently slightly ignorant.
First, what does node stand for?
Second, what is ladder testing?

I'm no expert but here are my understanding of these two terms. Both terms are dealt with during load development.

1) NODE has to do with the harmonics of your barrel. As the bullet is fire from the chamber through the barrel, it causes the barrel to vibrate. This affects the accuracy of the barrel. Different loads will vibrate differently.

2) LADDER TEST is a test of several different rounds using increasingly stronger powder charges. During a ladder test you looking for the load which has the right velocity, and accuracy for your rifle. You find your barrels nodes while performing a ladder test, because the various powder charges used will cause the barrel to vibrate differently. During the test you should find that some charges group together on the target, while others are further apart. The tighter groups are nodes.

Hope this helps

Node, is somebody asking a question, getting the answer, and then posting I node it all along.

Ladder testing can be likened to soap box speaking with a little high horse attitude blended in.gun):D
